Shaka Taco

There seems like nothing would be better than walking off the beach and being able to buy a taco, right? Located right off of one of the most foot trafficked beach accesses in Surf City, Shaka Taco allows beach goers to have tacos for lunch or dinner as soon as they walk off the sand.

Shaka Taco is a walk up restaurant with out door seating, you buy tacos by the singles, also available are taco bowls, nachos and quesadillas. Although it wasn't within walking distance of my house's beach access, it was a go to whenever I was at the north end of the island.

Shaka Taco did not have your regular meat, cheese, lettuce, sour cream tacos. Depending on your meat choice, your taco came with a variety of different flavors than traditional tacos. I ordered a shrimp taco bowl, which came with my choice of Mexican or coconut rice topped with black beans and cotija cheese, these toppings were in addition to what usually comes on the shrimp taco which is blackened grilled shrimp, asian slaw, sweet chili sauce and cilantro. It was defientely the best taco bowls I have ever had!

My mom got the pork taco which had adobo-rubbed house braised pulled pork, eastern Carolina BBQ sauce, NC coleslaw and pickled jalapeƱos. My dad decided on the Carne Asada tacos which had aside marinated streak, green cabbage, pico de gallo, and cotija cheese.

Shaka Taco is definitely a must eat due to its awesome outdoor seating atmosphere, its quick access for beach goers, and the amazing tastes. Also for those who enjoy traveling they had a map for you to mark where you're visiting Surf City from.
